Eco Tan says goodbye to superstar Laura

Eco Tan is preparing to say goodbye to their golden girl, Laura Morris, who is travelling back to New Zealand. Laura has experienced every stepping stone in the creation of Eco Tan along with Sonya Driver. From Sonya’s tiny home in Currumbin together they have made history creating the first and only certified organic tanning company in Australia.

Her contributions to the company’s success and education to people all over Australia about Eco Tan’s organic products and switching to the healthy alternative have been greatly appreciated.

New Zealand is extremely lucky to have a women like Laura as Sonya says, “She will be the greatest gift in your life”. Laura will forever be apart of Eco Tan and we hope to see her back in the office soon!

Eco Tan launches Winter Skin into world-renowned Gaia Retreat and Spa

Olivia Newton-John’s world-renowned Gaia Retreat and Spa in the Byron Bay hinterland is known for its unique spa experience. Since opening in 2005 it has received multiple awards. Eco Tan is delighted to be apart of the Gaia Health Retreat and Spa as this is a positive step forward to the education and recognition of organic products.

We are excited to have recently launched our new winter skin into the retreat and spa. Our winter skin is an organic face and body nourisher that contains no dies or hidden nasties and has a gorgeous natural scent of rose flower. After only a few applications you are left with an amazing natural honey-tan, perfect for the winter season! The best thing about our new winter product is that you can build this nourishing moisturizer to the depth you desire. Eco Tan is absolutely thrilled to have the prestigious Gaia Retreat and Spa on board.

The Paradise Kids Angel Appeal

Our company supports many charities, but one of our favourites is the Gold Coast’s Paradise Kids.

Paradise Kids is a Gold Coast Children’s Charity, which was founded in 1996 to help provide grieving children with counselling and support. All children grieve differently and may express anger, fear, guilt, repetitive behaviour and regression. These reactions are a normal response to loss of any kind. Paradise Kids offers art, movement, music, story-telling and safe anger management processes to allow children to grow positively through their loss rather than through repression of their feelings.

Earlier this month, the Eco Tan team took part in the Paradise Kids Angel Appeal, an annual fundraiser to support more than 300 children dealing with grief, loss or illness. Our staff wore white in the office and in the afternoon, Sonya and her children took part in the Angel Walk, held at the Southport Broadwater Parklands. They joined many others who wore white and/or angel wings as they walked through Southport, raising money to “help heal the heartache.”

Check out some of our pictures from the appeal.

A new look for Eco Tan

We’re very lucky to have Channel Nine’s gorgeous Amber Wyatt on board as the new face of Eco Tan! Our latest photoshoot took place at beautiful Tallebudgeera beach last Friday, with exquisite clothes lent to us by the Gold Coast’s leading fashion designer, Lisa Brown. You can check out her designs here. We’d also love to give Nadia a huge thank you for doing Amber’s hair and Jenette from Imagica Photographics for being our photographer for the day.

Amber was sprayed with our Rich Honey solution by Alli at Organic Tanning GC in Upper Coomera on the Gold Coast. (Coomera girls, you can call her for a mobile spray tan on 0431 831 797) Can you believe the solution was only left on two and a half hours?!

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes sneak-peek at Friday’s photoshoot. You can view more in our Facebook album.

We can’t wait to release the final images in the next few days! Stay tuned!

New York Chocolate Fashion Show 2011

We love chocolate here at Eco Tan. Love it, love it, love it. Love to eat it, love to drink it, love to wear it. Yes, wear it. Our tan isn’t green or orange based. No, it’s based on cacao. That’s where we get our gorgeous colour from. Chocolate. And chocolate will most certainly not turn you orange!

Anyway, apparently some fashionistas in New York love chocolate as much as we do, and also enjoy covering themselves in chocolate. As part of the world’s biggest event dedicated to chocolate, the 14th Annual Chocolate Show saw models strut the catwalk in haute couture chocolate designs put together by chefs, chocolatiers and fashion designers.

We had to share some photos of the event, this chocolate fashion is mouthwateringly incredible.

Happy Birthday Rachael!

Three years since being diagnosed with melanoma, Sonya’s gentle natured sister Rachael is celebrating her thirty-somethingth birthday today! Healthier than ever, Rachael was in the office earlier this week. She said she was in awe of Eco Tan’s growing success from such humble beginnings.

“Watching Eco Tan grow has been an honour. I have sat on the sidelines and watched my amazing sister work extremely hard to create a tan that is not only safe but a beautiful colour. I am so proud of her achievements. I am conscious of sun damage as well as being careful not to put chemicals on my skin. I urge people around me to use chemical free products like sunscreen and facial products while in the sun.”

Sonya’s four day recharge

It’s been a big year for Eco Tan and the single mother behind it all. Sometimes a getaway is all you need to get back on your feet. This week, Sonya has returned from a much needed recharge in North Queensland after hitting a massive burn out.

Much to my envy, she has shared with me some photos of her holiday.

Classic Sonya. Singing to Adele on the plane.

A relaxing hot stone massage

"As I peruse through a magazine, still at war with the chatting monkey in my mind, I caught a glimpse of some of the wildlife and took a sneaky photo. You're welcome."

Yum.

Who would have thought that something such a pretty colour could cause such a terrible headache?

Sonya has returned to us in our (brand new!) office, ready again to get back to work.

Watch this space for the latest from Eco Tan!
